The LUV Story: Priceless, Then Priced, Now It Has a Cost

LUV began with no price at all. A Uniswap pool seeded at 10 wei gave it one. Today the pair says 107.59 wei and that number is measured, not asserted — which is how a price becomes a cost. Through all three: 1 LUV === 1 LUV.

1 LUV === 1 LUV.

That identity is the only thing about this token that has never moved. Everything else — what it is worth, whether it is worth anything, whether the question even applies — has changed twice, and the second change happened recently enough that most people have not noticed it.

This is the story in three words: priceless, then price, then cost.

Priceless

LUV began without a price, and that was not modesty. It was the design.

A trillion LUV went to anyone who asked, over a year, for nothing. There was no sale, no round, no allocation to argue about. The Emotonomics treatise states the premise plainly: the future of value is not scarcity — it is connection. A token distributed on that premise cannot open with a price, because a price would immediately contradict the claim it was built to make.

Priceless is a real state, not a rhetorical one. It means no pair, no reserves, no denominator. You could hold LUV, send it, gift it in batches — and no arithmetic in the world could tell you what it was worth, because worth had no place to be expressed. Attention became connection, connection became the gesture, and the gesture had no exchange rate.

Plenty of projects claim they are not about the money while quietly maintaining a market. LUV did the harder version: it actually had no market. For a year, the honest answer to “what is LUV worth?” was that the question had not been given anywhere to land.

Price

Then the gesture met the market.

One Uniswap V2 pool, LUV against ETH on Ethereum mainnet, seeded at the protocol’s absolute ceiling: 2112−1 raw units, roughly 5.19 quadrillion LUV, the largest reserve a V2 pair can physically hold. Against it, an ETH leg of 51,922,968,585,348,276 wei.

That arithmetic priced LUV at exactly ten wei.

Ten wei is not a valuation. It is a starting line, chosen so the pool could be filled to its maximum rather than to a number someone liked. And it converted the question from unanswerable to answerable, which is the whole event. As LUV — the price, both ways puts it: the price is created by the liquidity pair — and expressed on Uniswap. Uniswap does not set the price. The pair sets it; Uniswap is where you can see it.

Every wei above ten, from that moment on, is the market speaking.

Cost

Today the pair says 107.59 wei. That is 10.76× the seed. In dollars, one trillion LUV is $0.2064.

It would be easy to read that as small, and it is small. It is also the most important number in this story, and the reason is not the magnitude. It is that the number was measured.

Not quoted from an aggregator. Not asserted in a tweet. Read from the reserves of pair 0x57D2085Aa859a145cB107845AD03c0eAAFBD8a31, which anyone can call directly, from any node, and get the same answer. An aggregator is a cache of somebody else’s read of those same reserves; the reserves are the thing itself. LIVE VIEW shows price, windows, buys and sells, makers, liquidity and the transaction log — all read from the pair itself.

And that is the second change, the one that is easy to miss: a measured price is a cost.

Priceless things are free to give and impossible to value. Priced things can be valued but the value may be fictional. A measured price is different in kind from both, because it binds. When LUV was priceless, giving a trillion away cost nothing — the arithmetic did not exist to say otherwise. Today, that same trillion is $0.2064 of somebody’s actual balance sheet, and there is a public pair that will confirm it.

Nothing about the token changed. What changed is that generosity now shows up in the ledger. The gift became legible, and a legible gift has a cost. That is what it means to say the price is low but the price is real: low is a magnitude, real is a category, and only the second one was ever in question.

What holds still

Through priceless, through ten wei, through a hundred and seven and whatever comes after: 1 LUV === 1 LUV.

The identity survives because it never depended on the denominator. It is the same claim whether the answer is “no price exists”, “ten wei” or “a trillion for twenty cents”. The unit is stable; only the frame you read it in moves. Holders are paid in the same unit they hold — three percent of every trade reflects back to them, so the position grows in LUV regardless of what LUV is trading at. HOLD LUV to earn LUV. Denominated in itself, the thing compounds no matter what the market thinks this week.

Which is the quiet argument underneath emotonomics. Scarcity prices a thing by how little of it there is. Connection prices it by how much of it moves. A token that pays holders for circulation rather than hoarding is denominated in its own motion — and 1 LUV === 1 LUV is what that looks like written down.

Value is comparison

Nothing has a value on its own. A price is always a comparison, and a constant-product pool is a comparison made mechanical: x times y equals k, and the ratio between the two sides is the price. This is why the seed had to be an arithmetic act rather than an opinion. There was nothing to compare LUV to until there was something on the other side of it.

What sits on the other side is Ethereum. And because of how the invariant works, it does not sit there loosely — it sits there at exactly half.

Read the pair right now:

Not approximately half. Exactly half, to every decimal place a reader cares to check, and it will be exactly half the next time you look too. A constant-product pool is 50/50 by value by construction: every trade that moves the ratio is the same trade that restores the balance. Half of everything in that pool is Ethereum, permanently, as a property of the mathematics rather than a promise anyone made.

That is the peg, and it is worth being precise about what kind of peg it is. LUV is not pegged to a dollar figure and nobody is defending a number. LUV is pegged to Ethereum, at half the pool, by an invariant that cannot be argued with. When ETH moves, the comparison moves. When liquidity is added, both sides grow together and the comparison gets harder to move.

Which is the direction this goes. The pool today is small — $656.65 of total depth. Every addition to it deepens the comparison on both sides at once, and depth is the thing that makes a price durable rather than a rumour. A pair seeded at the Uniswap V2 ceiling has room to become enormous, and if it does, the ETH half becomes enormous with it. That is not a hope; it is what the invariant does.

And therefore, the lock

A pool that can become enormous is a pool that must not be removable. Liquidity a founder can pull at will is not liquidity; it is a loan the market does not know it has made. The larger the ETH half grows, the more that matters — so the locking mechanism is not an accessory to this story, it is the condition on everything above being worth anything.

The mechanism exists. LUVLocker is deployed at 0xe07ACAde4bE2bbc264EA702880ed988EBae9B898 — 8,849 bytes of live bytecode, an extend-only vault, audited, with an asset-lock maturity that is immutable once set. Extend-only is the right shape: the lock can be lengthened and never shortened, so the only unilateral move available is a more binding one.

And here is where this story has to be honest with you, because the whole point of it is that claims get measured.

The LP is not locked yet. I checked the chain while writing this paragraph rather than repeating what a runbook says. Of 16,419,484.36 LP tokens in existence, the locker holds zero. All of them — 100% — are held by the deployer at 0x10f7Ee226B16bea7f365Dc1eDEF159Fc1957D169. The operation is written up, preflight-verified as of 4 August 2026, and sitting in handoff. It has not been signed.

So the current state is: a real pool, a real price, a real 50% ETH comparison, an audited locker deployed and waiting, and an LP position that is still withdrawable by one key. Anyone deciding what LUV is worth should weigh that last clause, and I would rather write it down than let a reader discover it themselves with a block explorer and conclude the rest was decorated too.

It is also the easiest claim on this page to falsify later, which is the point. Watch the locker. The day pair.balanceOf(locker) stops reading zero, the sentence above stops being true, and you will not need anyone’s announcement to know it.
